Manchester Engagement Session —Francesca & Kal
Let me just say it – I love engagement sessions. No pressure, no guests waiting, no timeline chasing. Just two people, a camera, and space to be yourselves.
That’s exactly what Francesca and Kal brought to their engagement session in Manchester — zero stress, plenty of laughs, and a solid dose of style.
WHY ENGAGEMENT SESSION JUST HIT DIFFERENT
Engagement sessions are the easiest way to forget the camera is even there. Just the two of you moving through a place that feels right. Francesca and Kal arrived with exactly that mindset: relaxed, curious, and completely open to the moment. And honestly, that’s all it takes.
These sessions are less about posing and more about discovering how you naturally move together — which is exactly what makes the photos feel real.
How It All Unfolded
We wandered through some of my favourite city spots – streets with character, light bouncing off glass and stone, that perfect mix of grit and charm. The kind of Manchester backdrop that makes everything feel a bit more cinematic without trying too hard.
At some point, we ducked into Maray Restaurant on Brazennose Street – accidentally brilliant. Not only did it become the scene for a quick outfit change, but the interior had such a great vibe! Friendly staff, gorgeous lighting, and food smells that made us all consider ditching the camera and grabbing dinner. Highly recommend.
Engagement Session in Manchester City Centre
Manchester is one of my favourite places for engagement sessions. The city has this incredible mix of textures — glass, brick, old industrial buildings and soft evening light reflecting from every direction.
For Francesca and Kal, the streets around the city centre became the perfect backdrop. One corner felt cinematic and dramatic, the next relaxed and intimate — which is exactly why engagement sessions in Manchester work so beautifully.
What I Loved About This Session
Francesca and Kal had fun. They weren’t worried about the “perfect” pose or smiling the “right” way. That’s the magic. They trusted the process – and honestly, that’s where the best photos come from. We played with movement, shadows, reflections, and just let the city guide us.
Outfit Changes = Big Win
Packing a second look might sound like a small detail, but it makes a massive difference. It adds variety to your gallery, resets the vibe, and gives you a little mid-session boost. It gave the photos a second act and totally refreshed the whole experience
So... Should You Do an Engagement Session?
SHORT ANSWER? YES
Long answer? Also yes – and here’s why:
It’s the perfect way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. You learn how I work, I see how you naturally move together, and those “we’re awkward in photos” feelings disappear pretty quickly (spoiler: almost everyone says that at first).
You also get a set of relaxed, beautiful photos that aren’t in wedding attire — perfect for invitations, wedding websites, or just to keep. And honestly? It’s basically a date with a camera.
A Few Tips Before Your Engagement Session:
Wear something that feels like you — just slightly elevated. Casual works beautifully. Matching outfits? Not necessary.
Bring a second outfit if you can. It adds variety to your gallery and lets us shift the mood halfway through the session.
Don’t overthink it. The more relaxed you are, the better the photos feel.
And treat it like a mini adventure. Choose a place that means something to you — or somewhere that simply looks incredible.
While you’re thinking about outfits and locations, I’ll be there with my camera, ready to capture everything as it naturally unfolds — with that cinematic, analog-inspired look I love.
My Go-To Spots for Engagement Shoots Around Manchester
Manchester offers an incredible variety of locations for engagement sessions — from urban backstreets to open landscapes just outside the city.
Here are a few of my favourites:
Castlefield – for that industrial, textured city feel
Northern Quarter – colourful walls, backstreets, unexpected beauty
Saddleworth Moor – raw, windy, dramatic (in the best way)
Chorlton Water Park – trees, water, soft light
Heaton Park – green space without leaving the city
City or countryside, we’ll find something that fits your vibe.
